SOPRASOLAR now has the distinction of being the first FM approved BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaic) Roof System on the worldwide construction market.

FM Approval of the first BIVP roof system is the result of the development of FM Global Standard 4476, published in early 2011 after review by various industry stakeholders including SOPREMA North America's corporate technical department. It demonstrates once again SOPREMA's commitment to innovation and product development, along with its leadership in energy efficient building envelope solutions.

SOPREMA North America, through the hard work and dedication of its engineers and scientists, has perfected the concept of combining its popular multi-ply roofing membrane with UNI-SOLAR thin-film solar laminates from United Solar Ovonic, LLC. The result is a lightweight, flexible, durable, integrated photovoltaic system which is less costly to install and has a quicker Return on Investment (ROI) than traditional hard paneled crystalline systems. In addition, SOPRASOLAR Systems are installed directly onto SOPREMA multi-ply membrane using state of the art adhesives which eliminates the need for roof penetrations, a main cause of water infiltration.
